An Experiment with an Air Pump is a play by Shelagh Stephenson, based on the Joseph Wright Painting of same name. The show follows two families of scientists living in the same house 200 Years apart: one in 1799 and one in 1999.  Play explores the ethics and change of scientific discovery of the two eras and draws similarities the scientists of the past and present.
